Winter?????

I think this is what we will miss most when we move to KS

Laying on the hammock, reading a book, wearing flip-flops (shorts and tank tops) and running in the sun with the grass between our toes....all in January!

Pinewood Derby Build

Austin has been looking forward to the pinewood derby all year! With it coming up next weekend it was time to start building the cars. Austin's pack lets the siblings build a car and race, so Paige and Austin have both been planning and sketching out their cars. Since we don't have all the tools to build the cars Neal asked for help from Jack and Julie, a wonderful couple from our church. We went over this afternoon and got to work. L

Austin and Paige both helped with their card, Austin more so than Paige. They both had fun and are very happy with their completed cars. I don't know what we would have done without Jack's help and Austin thinks he will have to fly back again next year to get him to help again. The race next weekend should be fun!

Cub Scouts

Austin's Cub Scout pack had a demonstration tonight from the military police on weapons and how to use them properly. The boys had a great time and learned a lot of good information.

Their favorite part was definitely when they got to hold each weapon and get some hands on lessons.

Date Night

With our time here winding down we are realizing that there is a million things to do here and we need to take advantage of it before we leave. One of our friends, who is also leaving, asked us if we wanted to check out Cirque De Soleil IRIS with them. Luckily we were able to get a sitter and a great price on seats so we jumped on that chance!

Before the show we went out to dinner at a great restaurant. They cured their own meats, made their own cheeses and it was really good.

It did take us awhile to find because the sign is very small and hidden on the side of the building.

The show was at the Dolby Theatre and the seats were really good

The stage, costumes and show was really good. It would not have been our first choice on Cirque De Soleil shows, but it was really good, both exactly what we expect and yet nothing like what we expected at the same time.

After the show we were hoping to get a look at the Hollywood sign all lit up, but I guess they stop lighting it up at night....there must be a budget crunch going on some where! S instead we walked around the shops and got some coffee for the drive home. It was great to have a date night and get out with some great friends!

Crazy Hair Day

The first week back to school after 3 weeks of vacation is never easy. It was by much welcomed but certainly not easy to adjust to, getting up on time proved quite the challenge for a couple kiddos! But at the end of the first week back the kids were very excited to participate in crazy hair day. We didn't get much time to prep and plan, but with a days notice I think we pulled off some good ones.

Austin likes bugs in his hair, so we just go with it. Paige decided to let me experiment with her hair and with the help of some pipe cleaners it turned put very fun!

They both had fun, Austin loves freaking the girls out and Paige likes everyone wondering how she gets her hair to stay up the way it does.

After we got home and they took their hair out, Austin decided that us bugs needed to go home and take a nap. This is what happens when your little brother sneaks into your room to play with your doll house!

New........

New year, new schedules, new adventures, new smiles, new home....I sense a theme for this year :-)
We are excited for all new that this year has to offer!
The kids and I hanging out on New Years Eve.  They didn't stay up until the new year, but Neal and I did welcome in the new year awake.
Austin is up to new tricks in the new year, I was told that Darth Vader doesn't sleep so why should he!
Neal and Austin both wore their new shirts to cheer on the Vikings to a loss
We decided that Gingerbread houses were over rated and we would make New Years houses instead
We spent much time building new toys from Christmas
And of course the new that I have been waiting for, the new week of school after Christmas vacation.  I just wish that I could take this view and make it the new view in Kansas, but since I can't we will be enjoying it all we can from new spots until we have to move.
Bring on the NEW year!

Disneyland Fun

Yesterday we headed back to Disneyland. The weatherman said that there was going to be rain showers along the coast but inland should remain dry, so with that news and most people blocked out for the park we thought it would be a good day to go. Usually rain keeps people away, but we found out that only holds true when people aren't there for Christmas vacation! It was crowded, more than we expected but still not bad, the worst part was the rain! It actually rained, something it never really does here, and it didn't stay along the coast like they said. Either way we went and had a good day.

This was from the last trip there and I don't know how I didn't post it then, but it was too cute not to share.

It was a cold and rainy day, but we did manage a few smiles!

We usually don't go into the innovations lab, but since it was all inside and still raining we went in there for a break, the kids found a race game and played that for a while.

They won't get any driving awards, but it held their attention for quite a while.

Paige and I were entertaining ourselves when Austin decided to photo bomb us with some bunny ears!

When we made it over to small world, the parade was just starting and the line for the ride gives you a clear view of the parade. We didn't get to see the whole thing, but we enjoyed the snowmen.

Mickey and Minnie where ice skating their way around the parade

The last float we got to see what of Goofy making some gingerbread.

Even though it was cold and rainy all day we had a lot of fun. We are definitely going to be sad when we don't get to run up there for fun anytime we want to!
